Food Intolerance Testing

On the first day Kate sees you offering sensitivity tests around foods. This is performed through muscle testing, and clearly indicates some intolerances to many of the foods we consider normal fayre. This forms a solid part of the dietary advice received on retreat.

Intolerances & Allergies

The problem of allergies and food intolerance go far beyond the rashes, swelling and sneezing with which we have all become familiar. The symptoms are often masked and it is not uncommon to find that the foods we crave are the ones we are most intolerant to.

An allergy is an abnormal or excessive reaction of the body's defence systems to a food. The body reacts with varying degrees of severity ranging from rashes, swellings and asthmatic wheezing, to those which send the body into potentially fatal anaphylactic shock.

An intolerance is a reaction to a substance that causes symptoms, but may be less easily identified because it does not cause a classic allergic response. Food intolerance can have a profound effect on health and well being, and is often implicated in chronic conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Candida, Arthritis, Migraine, M.E. and general fatigue, ADHD (Hyperactivity) and Depression.

However, intolerances can also be implicated in a general lack of energy, focus or general wellbeing. And cutting out these foods can give a fundamental lift to the system.

Applied Kinesiology

Allergy and intolerance testing involves muscle testing using Applied Kinesiology, which is a gentle and non-invasive technique. A simple strength test is administered on a specific muscle, by holding out your arm and offering Kate resistance to her push upon it. As each food is held to the body in turn, your tolerance of it can be interpreted by a change in the resistance you can give her.

The body's response to a wide range of foods can be measured in this way, and any allergy or intolerance can be identified. This method of testing is very effective and you will be made immediately aware of the substances you are sensitive to. Reducing or even omitting intake of these foods resolves many subtle issues, and advise is given on this move forward.  While any food can create an intolerance, common ones are :  Wheat, Cow's Milk,  Soya, & Refined Sugar.
